PUBLICATIONS RECEIVED
We have received L'mi Messrs Stine-, Son, and Co., Ltd., a copy of tho twenty-sixth issue of their Canterbury. Nelson, Marlborough, and Westland Directory. No one can dispute the value of these publications. They are essential to business houses, not only on account of the wonderfully accurate lists of residents in town and country iu the wide area covered, but because of the mass of statistical and other information supplied on many subjects. Particulars relating to the Customs tariff, tho Fencing Act, intestate estates, the making of wills, and various other matters iu which everyone is more or less interested make the directory a very desirable publication for tho ordinary household. ‘ CONTRACT BRIDGE.’ Contract bridge, tho now development in the game of auction bridge, which has been the rage in France, England, and America, has not yet reached here, but in the event of its appearance Mr R. F. Foster’s ‘ Contract Bridge ’ is opportune. This is the first complete book devoted to contract bridge. It gives tho system of scoring, tho new rules, and full and explicit instructions on how tho game is played. Our copy is from the publishers, Messrs Angus and Robertson, Ltd. (Sydney).
