GIFTS TO THE CITY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln regard to the remarks made by Mr Tapley about the many splendid gifts made to this city, 1 may mention that I was some years ago the means of inducing Sir Andrew Carnegie to give £IO,OOO to our Tree Public Library here. I may also state that some years before my father at bis own exoense erected that statue in the Octagon‘to the Eev. Dr Bums.—l am, eto. C. E. Chapman. May 5 .
