BURNSIDE STOCK SALES
Sheep.—An entry of 3,309. The selection was good, both heavy wethers and ewes being in larger supply than at the previous .sale. Prices varied hut little throughout the sale., except for heavy sheep, which wore slightly easier. Generally prices were on a par with those of a fortnight ago. Rates: Heavy weihors, 29s 9d to 30s fid; prime medium, 26s 3d to 27s 6d; light, 25s Od to 24s fid; heavy ewes, 20s to 255; medium, 15s-to 17s; light, 8s to 10s. Lambs.—A fairly big yarding, including a good number of. heavies,. hut mostly comprised of mixed qualities. Some pennings of unfinished sorts wore noticed. Owing to the dispute at the works, mentioned elsewhere, the usual buyers wore slack operators. One outside'buyer was operating. Heavy .lambs met with a fair sale under the circumstances, but light Jambs cheapened Is per head. Graziers' sorts had dujl inquiry. Prices: Heavy lambs, 27s to 295; prime medium, 23s to 255; light, 20s to 2Ls fid; unfinished, J4s to 16s. Fat Cattle.—A yarding of 281, comprised of all classes, with the proportion of light cows, heifers, and steers larger than usual. Values at the start of the sale (which was late) were from par to a shade bettor than last week’s, borne prices were: —Fair average weight bullocks, £l2 to £l3 ss; light £lO to £ll ss; heifers, £4 15s to £6 10s; cows, £5 to £7 7s fid. . „ Store Cattle,— A big.entry of 38/, made up of well-conditioned cows 1 and heifers and young cattle, together with thirty or forty head of two to three-vear-oid medium steers. The latter sold at from £5 to £7 Is per head. The balance of the entry mot with slack demand, and boners were slightly easier. Pirr S- —A warding of 143 fats and 89 store's. Fats cheapened by about 6s each, and stores were scarcely changed.
