The Tariff Board has commenced the hearing of an application by the Australian Dairy Council for an increase in (lie duty on imported butter and cheese to fid per lb. . . Illustrating the inroads into the industry that impoi ted goods were making, Mr Rankin, chairman of tho Dairy Council, said that the butter imports from New Zealand had risen from 323 tons in 1921-22 to 1,330 tons in 1925-26.
