FALL OF 100 FT

A CAR SENSATION NURSES LOWERED BY ROPES TO ATTEND INJURED [Per Ukited Press Association' HAMILTON, March 23. A party of Ngaruawahia motorist# had a miraculous escape from death when their car went over a high bank on the Raglan deviation at 8 o’clock last night. All were hurt. The occupants were Bert Fowldes, who suffered concussion and a coni pound fracture pi a wrist; Harold Bernard M'Lean, spinal injuries; Archie Ernest Shelds, fractured wrist and shock: and John Haggle and David Jackson, both suffering from abrasions and shock. The accident occurred at a sharp bend fifteen miles from Hamilton. Apparently the driver (Haggie) took too wide a sweep when negotiating tho turn, and the car plunged over the top of an almost perpendicular bank. It fell 100 ft, crashing through scrub and trees, to finish a complete wreck at the bottom, parts being strewn everywhere. Nurses had to be lowered on ropes and the sufferers pulled up on ropes before they could bo sent to the Waikato Hospital. ■
