Chas. Stokes, Balclutha, application for stalking block No. 24.—Granted. Union Steam Ship Co., accepting the society’s offer for the .303 cartridges.— Recommend that the ammunition he purchased and stored. D. Urquhart, Hawea Flat, saying he was sending two bundles of deer skins to Messrs R.. S. Black, Ltd.—Received. Con Hodgkinson, LandshorOugh Valley, report regarding the deer in the Makarora deer forest. -Received. T. Ainsworth, Killnshee, Naas (Ire- . land), inquiring re deer stalking in 1928; saying ha will he in New Zealand next year.—Received. Information to be sent. ANGLING COMMITTEE. The Angling Committee’s report stated that the following correspondence had bean dealt with: — Secretary Marine Department, Wellington, notifying that F. W. Pellett and A. A. Campbell had been appointed inspectors of sea fishing.—Received. Secretary Southland Society, saying that he was writing to the manager of the paper mills at Mntaura regarding the erection of the fish ladder.—Received. Copy of president s letter to Mr M‘Coll, of Timaru Creek station, regarding the erection at Timaru Creak dam of a more satisfactory and permanent stop for the running trout; also copy of letter to Mr Roberts, Butcher’s Gully, re Scotch burn trout, and. Mr Roberts's reply.—Noted. Hnwictoun and Northern Fisheries, Stirling, Scotland, notifying the desptach of one box of ova _ by . tlio Ruapehu.—Letter acknowledging the receipt of the ova to be sent; also send copy of Claringbold’s report and ask what species of eggs wore in the box. The committee recommend that some Loch Leven be put into Sullivan’s and other dams this year. GENERAL. Information was received stating that the season for shooting game opens on May 2, as May I is a Sunday. The season for pukeko also commences on May 2. and continues until May 31. Mr 'Turner said that it woukl_ he cheaper to import pheasants from the North Island and liberate them each year than to breed them locally. The chairman suggested that the rest of the birds go to the Waipori sanctuary.— It was decided finally that the pheasant farm he placed on the following basis;—Thirty birds, say twenty-five hens and five cocks, bo offered 'to Mr J. F. Munro (Pheasant Farm, Waitati); £1 to bo paid to Sir Munro for all birds reared when fit to be turned out; Mr Munro to pay all .expenses. Tho details were left in the hands of Messrs Butterworh and Turner.
