LORD BIRKENHEAD
PLANS TO VISIT DOMINIONS Historic family interest. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, March 22. “I aim determined to visit Australia and New Zealand as soon as I am freed from tho ties of office,” said the Earl of Birkenhead, who was the guest of tho Anzac Luncheon Club at the Savoy Hotel. Mr W. C. Angwin. the new Agent-General for Western Australia, was present. Lord Birkenhead recalled the historic interest that attaches to the family of his wife, who was Miss Margaret Furneanx. She is a direct descendant of Captain Tobias Furneaux, who circumnavigated the world with Captain Cook. The Furneaux Islands, in Bass Strait, between Tasmania and Australia, were named after Captain Furneaux, said Lord Birkenhead. “I hope they are still there,” ho added, amid laughter. The chairman (Sir Newton Moore), who was Agent-General for Western Australia, 1911-18, said the best thing he could wish Mr Angwin was that he might find the same amount of goodwill as his predecessor, Air lE. P. Colebatch.
