AQUATICS. SANDERS AND CORNWELL CUPS. [Special to the ‘ Stab.’] CHRISTCHURCH. January 12. At a meeting of the Canterbury Yachting Association G. G. Andrews’s fcurtecn-foot yacht, Betty, which won four out of five trials at Lyttelton, was formally selected as Canterbury’s representative in the Sanders Cup contest. £lO was voted Andrews to prepare Betty for the races. The Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association wrote stating that the Cornwell Cup contest should be controlled by the Canterbury Yachting Association’ and not by the Canterbury Yacht and Motor Boat Club at Lyttelton. The. secretary was instructed _to writ© to the Otago'Association pointing out that, the Lyttelton Club was the only club at Lyttelton, and that it competent to make all arrangements' for the Cornwell Cup race. At the Auckland championship meeting last night Miss Gladys Pidgeon lowered the Australian and New Zealand 220yds ladies’ breast-stroke record ■from 3min 40sec to 3min 35 3-ssoc. The previous record was shared by Misses Pidgeon and Ettie Robertson, of Sydney. In the 100yds intermediate girls’ championship Miss Doris Magee lowered by two-fiftlis of a. second the dominion record of 69 l-ssoc, held by Miss M. Farquhnr. Miss Ena Stocklcy won the 100yds ladies’ event in 68scc, after a great race with Miss Farcjuhar. A. D. Adamson was first in the 100yds men’s event from J. Enwright and L. Fairgray (dead heat). Time, 59 2-sscc. A. E. Bainl won the 220yds men’s race in 2min 40sec with ease.
