MISS LORIMER'S RECITAL

In the music hall of fame the names of several New Zealanders occupy a very prominent place. The dominion has given the world one of its finest sopranos in Miss Frances Alda, and exports are unanimously, of the opinion that a young Christchurch singer, Miss Gladys Lorimer, will in the near future occupy an equally high place in the operatic world. Miss Lorimer possesses a wonderful voice of wide range and exceptional quality, and has all the essentials for the making of a great operatic soprano. She has made a special study of this branch of musical art under Signor Antonio Notariello, and has reached a stage where experts consider she is really to take a place in grand opera. With this object in view, Miss Lorimer is leaving for Europe at the close of her New Zealand tour, and she will give an operatic recital in His Majesty’s Theatre on Tuesday, November 30. A fine programme has been prepared for this one recital, including some of the most famous arias in the realm of operatic _ music. The recital will he under the direction of the Bristol Piano Company, where seats may be reserved on Thursday, November 25.
