AUSTRALIAN OIL WELLS

THE CAROLINE BORE STATEMENT BY COMPANY ENGINEER CRUDE PETROLEUM EXISTS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright MELBOURNE. November 19. (Received November 19. at 12.40 p.m.) In connection with the statement by the Director of Geological Survey in reference to the South Australian oil wells analysis, the company’s field superintendent, after consultation with the directors, has issued a statement in which he says: “In refutation of the reports recently circulated as to the absence of mineral oil in our bore at Caroline, I definitely state that I have proved the existence of crude petroleum m the bore. Its presence has been demonstrated to many people, including visiting directors, and but for an unexpected intrusion of water in the bore we would before this have been producers of crude oil on probably a commercial scale. This is my definite opinion as a petroleum engineer of many years’ experience.” He adds: “This opinion is backed by two other wellknown expert's.”
