BAND OF HOPE CONCERT

Tho term wind-up concert of the South Dunedin United Bond of Hope was held in the Forbury School Gymnasium last night. There was a large attendance of members and friends, and an excellent programme was very much appreciated. Mr R. W. Hall (Mayor of St. Hilda) occupied the chair, and in a short opening speech exhorted those present to remember the valuable lessons that they had learned from their teachers, and impressed upon them tho fact that it was easier to train boys than to repair men. He was sure that they were all indebted to teachers for their valuable assistance.

Tho following programme was submitted Chorus, ‘ Cheerio,’ Miss Parker’s senior girls; recitation. Miss Jean Pickard; banjo duct, Messrs Peterson and Maher; humorous character sketch, ‘ Catching a Mouse,’ Miss Louis Wreathall and Miss Hazel Ness; solo, Mrs Gibson; recitation, Master Bruce Jones; pianoforte solo, Miss Mavis Robb; concerted character song, ‘ Dutchies,’ Miss Parker’s junior boys and . girls; Highland fling, Miss B. Green; short wand drill, ‘On Parade,’ Miss Salmond’s pupils: violiu and piano solo, Mr and Miss Gilliand; solo; Miss Fiechly; concerted character song, ‘ With Courtly /-trace,’ Miss Parker’s senior girls- long wands. Miss Salmond’s pupils; recitation, Master Ivan Davidson; cornet solo, Mr J. Morris: solo, Miss Clare; duet, ‘ Rendezvous,’ Misses Jean Packard and Noni Davidson; concerted song, 1 Coon’s Prayer,’ Miss Evelyn .Shephard; flugel horn solo, Mr G. Lowry. Miss Mavis Robb was the accompanist.
