Quite a number of ladies and gentlemen were added to the General Committee, which is displaying real interest in the project. It was resolved that one of the Peninsula Ferry Company’s boats be chartered for a moonlight excursion early in January, a sub-com-mittee, consisting of the chairman, secretary, and Mr Marett being set up to make the necessary arrangements. It was resolved that application be made for the holding of an art union and raffles, the prizes for which will be various kinds of useful and valuable works of art. _ Four young ladies accepted nomination as the district queen, and on a ballet being taken Miss Koa Riddell was selected. The residents of the districts of Colinswood and Maoandrews are getting busy in connection with the setting up of their committees and queens, and are holding their preliminary meetings in tho hall on Monday evening. One of the most popular and successful functions held in the Bay was the ball given by the Orphans’ Club a few years ago. The club has been started again, and as a finish up to_ a short season it was decided to again run a similar function in the hall on Tuesday evening next. Judging by the interest being displayed the forthcoming ball promises to be another successful affair, for which excellent music and a tempting supper are being provided. For the convenience of visitors a bus will leave the Queen’s Gardens at halfpast 7, and will return after the hall. That the residents of the district were keenly interested in the doings of the Otago champion four on the other side goes without saying, more particularly as the cox to the crew was one of our own. To show their appreciation of the successful efforts of the crew a complimentary smoko concert is being tendered them next Thursday evening in the local hall. The Glee Club has been enjoying another successful season, and excellent practices have been the rule, with the result that good work has been put in by the members. Tho com-' mittee has decided to give one of its popular entertainments in the local hall to-morrow night, while it is proposed that visits bo made to town and Port Chalmers in tho near future. Another interesting programme of pictures was screened in the hall on Wednesday evening to an appreciative audience, 'the series comprising drama, comedy, scenic, and educational. The preliminary _ meeting in connection with the running of tho annual regatta on Boxing Day was held in the boat shed last Saturday Mr G. Bewley, commodore, presiding.
