BRITISH FILMS A GOOD INVESTMENT. A public company, tbe British Film Service, Ltd., with a capital of £30,000, was recently registered m Christchurch, the minimum subscription and share quota being filled in a few days. The objects of this company are to distribute in Australia, and New Zealand films from the British Empire Studios. This is the first and only real attempt to introduce British pictures to Australia and New Zealand. The British producers have made a wonderful offer to the company, making the success of the venture _ assured. British studios are now working at full pressure to break the American film monopoly. The directors of the British Film Service, Ltd., are all well-known successful business _ tnen : —Robert Malcolm, managing director Robert Malcolm, Ltd.; Harry Clement Harley, manager P. S. Nicholls and Co., Ltd.; Basil SethSmith, merchant; Herbert Walter Atack, solicitor; Walter James Braemar, company manager, Christchurch; Dr J. P. Hennessy, Wellington. A 132nd share of the money now sent America would he sufficient to allow of a 25 per cent, dividend. Tim directors have allocated_ a share issue to each city in the dominion. The quota for Dunedin is 4,000 shares, 5s on application, 5s on allotment.
