“NO BILL" IN MURDER CHARGE

WiKiHI SHOOTING TRAGEDY [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, November 16. The charge of murder against Given Francis Joseph M'Kce, of Timarm, will not be heard. Acting on the advice of Mr Justice Stringer in the Supreme Court this morning, the grand jury returned “no bill ” in the case. When His Honor addressed _ the grand jury he expressed the opinion that the circumstances did not warrant placing the man on his trial, and advised that “ no ■ bill ” be found. If the grand jury found a true > bill he would have to tell the common jury that there was no case on which accused could be convicted, and, if he were discharged in this way he could not, be brought up for trial again; whereas if the grand jury threw out the bill be could be brought up for trial again.
