The railway officials have decide! to use explosives to remove the menace oi a further great landslip, which threatens the lino a few chains nearer Palmerston North. The question of shunting goods wagons over the lino first was debated, but it was found that there was no serioiis congestion in the yards here, though the position at Cross Creek is different.
