AUSTRALIA'S YOUTH

* MILITARY UNFITNESS HIGH PERCENTAGE OF REJECTIONS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, SYDNEY, November 16. (Received November 16, at 1.15 p.m.) Figures compiled by the Defence Department for the year ended June 30 last show that almost one-third of the Senior Cadets examined for admission to the Citizens’ Forces were unfit foi military training, while nearly a quarter of the trainees examined for the Cadet Force were rejected. The Direc-tor-General of Medical Services - says that it n not possible to analyse the figures, because tho most important factor—viz., the reason for rejection—is not given. A system, however, is being introduced to remedy this defect, and this will provide valuable data. He added that, from a military standpoint, such a high percentage of rejections is a matter of grave concern, and disturbing to the self-esteem of the nation.
