YESTERDAY’S SESSIONS GIFTS OF THE VEAR [Per United Press Association] WELLINGTON, November IS. At the Presbyterian General Assembly the Theological College ' Committee reported that on Friday the jubilee of the college took place this year, and was celebrated appropriately. An appeal is being made to the church at present for a jubilee scholarship fund, of which £7,000 has been raised. There were fourteen students this year, and two are completing the course in Edinburgh. _ Fiftytwo men are under the oversight of the committee. Two sums of £I,OOO each have been received for scholarships, two other scholarships have been founded, and a legacy of £4,000 was left by an older of the church, and a donation for scholarships worth £BO a year for three years. On Monday morning the Finance Committee _ reported that the following was raised during the year:—Foreign missions, £13,692; home missions, £5,161; Maori missions, £5,402; youth of the church, £1,056; Theological College, £632. A deputation from the New Zealand Alliance visited the Assembly, and Messrs C. R. Edmonds and W. D. Hunt spoke, and were thanked for their addresses.

The Rev. D. Calder ? agent for the British and Foreign Bible Society, and Mr Bain, representing the _ National Bible Society of Scotland, visited the Assembly, spoke, and were thanked. The beneficiary funds were reported on this afternoon. The general fund for ministers has a capital of £147,233. A legacy of £4,000 has been left by the late Mr James Wilson, Timaru. The women’s beneficiary fund has likewise received a legacy of £3,000 from the same source. The capital of this fund is £6,661. The Rev. A. B. Todd (convener) was thanked for his services.

The Retiring Moderator (Rev. J. Kilpatrick) and Mrs Kilpatrick _ were thanked for a visit to the Maori mission stations.

At the evening meeting an overture on women as office-bearers was received. The question was sent down to the Presbyteries. The report of the youth of the church was submitted by the Rev. A. B. Kilroy, and medals gained by scholars in Sunday school examinations were presented. Tho bookroom has had a successful year, and has assisted schools with gifts of Bibles and hymn books. Rev. R. M. Ryburn, director, spoke of his work. Miss Shannon, the young women’s secretary, was introduced, and Miss Chappell spoke on behalf of the young women; while Mr T. C. Brash spoke for the young men. Saturday, June 18, 1927, was fixed for the Sabbath school examination.

The report on social service was presented by the Rev. J. L. Robinson (Invercargill). £5,136 was reported as having been raised, which does not include all sums contributed. The new century fund report was given in by Mr J. A. Thomson (Wellington).
