(Received October 23, at 9.45 a.m.) Three earthquakes, at hour intervals, rocked the central coast districts of California this morning. They were felt at Napa, fifty miles north of San Francisco, at Stockton, ninety miles southeast, and at San Luis Obispo, 250 miles south. The first shock was at 4.36, and woke sleepers, who rushed into the streets. San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose were the largest cities affected. Large buildings swayed perceptibly here and at other points. The reported damage is mostly broken windows.
