ARBITRATION COURT
DUHEDIN SITTING COMMENCED The ‘Arbitration Court, comprising His Honor Mr Justice Frftzer (president), W. Scott and A. L. Monteith (assessors), commenced its sitting in Dunedin this morning. Tho greater part of the court’s time this morning was engaged in making fixtures for tho hearing of compensation cases and applications for new awards, etc. It was decided to hear to-morrow morning the compensation case of Joseph Scott v. Harraway and Sons, Ltd., claim for a weekly payment of £2 10s fid. Hearing of the case John Hogan v. Keith Ramsay claim for a weekly payment of £2 12s 7d, was fixed for Tuesday. On Wednesday the following two compensation cases will be heard: — W. F. Phillips v. Duncan MTCenzic, motion for review of weekly .payment; Robert Statham v. J. D M'Cnrdy, claim for a weekly,payment of £2 12s 9d. In the case of the Southland cheese factory managers it was stated that an agreement had been reached to continue the present award for twelve months, and tho dispute was withdrawn. In respect to the Kaikorai Cable Employees, Dunedin Felt Hatters’, Local ‘ Bodies, Drivers’, and Otago Metal Workers’, in each case there being a partial recommendation, Thursday was fixed for their hearing. The court dealt with a number of applications to add parties to various awards. Applications by R. W. Moore, A. 0. Harvie (South Dunedin), and Henry Rigby (South Dunedin) for exemption from closing hours under the Shop Assistants’ Award were granted. An application by Eric Dawson (Mornington) was held over for inquiries to bo made.
In respect to the New Zealand Federated Moulders there Was a comrecommendation from the Conciliation Council, and the court made an award in terms of the recommendation.
