■fr " MISS CANTERBURY'S BIRTHDAY CONGRATULATIONS FROM THE NORTH A special message to the ‘ Star ’ states that the Mayor of Christchurch sent the following telegram to-day to “ Miss Canterbury,” who is celebrating her sixteenth birthday b during the beauty pageant in Dunedin; —“On behalf of the citizens of Christchurch, including Mrs Archer and myself, ! send yon our warmest Congratulations on the attainment of your sixteenth birthday. 1 was very sorry not to have the honor of decorating you with tho blue ribbon, but am hoping to see you when you return to Christchurch, I trust you will win the New Zealand championship.—J. K. Archrii, Mayor.” A message of congratulation and good wishes was also received by “ Miss Canterbury ” from Auckland.
