WAREHOUSE BURGLARY
CHARGES OF BREAKING AND ENTERING AND OF RECEIVING [Ter United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, October 21. A sequel to a burglary in the warehouse of Messrs Doarsleys, Ltd., on the night of September 16 was the appeal’* anco in the Police Court of Cecil Raymond Brown, who was charged with breaking and entering the warehouse and stealing a number of men’s and women’s shoes and a suit case, of the total value of £73 15s 3d. Vivian Charles Richardson was charged with receiving. Frederick Thomas Searle, a salesman employed at Dearsleys, Ltd., said that on the night of September 16 ho ' securely locked up the warehouse, but when no returned next morning ho found a number of shoo boxes about the . floor. He subsequently discovered that j during the night the boards of the fan* j tory door had been torn off and an entrance gained to the warehouse. Richardson stated be first met Brown l at the house of friends, and Brown asked him if be wanted some shoes, dis--1 playing a number in a suit case. Wit* i ness bought six pairs from accused at 17s 6d a pair, and sold them to friends ] at the same price. Detective O’Sullivan said that when he searched Brown’s room on October 12 he found three shoehorns similar to , those stocked by Dearsleys. Accused said he had picked them up in a Queen street shop. Accused, who pleaded not guilty, was , committed to the Supremo Court for j trial Bail was fixed at £2OO. For Richardson, counsel submitted ! that accused did not know the goods ; wore stolon at the. time ho took them ! from Brown and when ho sold them, j Richardson was convicted, and was remanded for sentence.
