POPULAR ACTRESS REIMS SEASON OPENS TO-MT I ■ Miss Muriel Starr, the talented emotional actress, with a strong company of supporting artists, will commence a season of seven nights at Has Majesty’s Theatre to-night with Max Mercin’s and George M. Cohan’s pulsating and thrilling drama, ‘ The House of Glass,’ which is rightly considered one of the most human plays ever written. It tells of the career of Margaret Case, who becomes involved with a notorious crook to whom she is engaged to be married; but before the marriage takes place there is an arrest, resulting in both girl and man going to gaol. The girl is released on parole, but she breaks it, goes away from New York, and becomes the wife of one of America’s richest railroad magnates, James Burke. The crook turns up to warn her never.to go back to New York, as the police are determined to have her. From here to the close of the play the situations arc tense, and the audience is kept on the tip-toe of excitement. ‘The House of Glass ’ will he played to-night and next Monday only. Supporting Miss Starr in the leading roles are Mr Harvey Adams, a distinguished English actor, and a company of talented artists. The plays to be produced in Dunedin are 1 The Goldfish ’ next Tuesday and Wednesday, ‘Madame X’ next Thursday, ‘French Leave ’ next Friday, and on Saturday, September 18, Miss Starr announces as a grand farewell attraction that famous drama ‘ Within the Law,’ which has made her name throughout the world. Miss Starr’s policy is quick and rapid changes, and Dunedin theatre goers will have a rare feast of comedy and drama during her season, lull particulars of the programme pro announced in our advertising columns Popular prices are announced, and the box plan is now open' at The Bristol lor the entire season.
