GERMANY BUYING BACK HER SHIPS
A BIG AMALGAMATION IN VIEW. Big steps forward are to be taken by Germany’s two great shipping lines— Hamburg-Amerika Company and North German Lloyd—and the probability is that these concerns will soon link their forces in an endeavor to win back a big share of tho Atlantic traffic and world sea trade. The Hamburg-Amerika Line proposes to increase its capital by 21,000,000 marks, 10,000,000 of which will bo used to buy back from the American Harriman concern 57,000 tons of shipping. North German Lloyd will add 11,000,000 in ordinary shares and 343,750 marks in preference shares to its capital.
