Fisher, A. Cambridge, G. A. Kain, J. Smith, E. H. Lough, B. S. Irwin, J. A. Cook, and Dr Hall. Tho Catering Committee recommended that the booths for the season be let to Mr M. H. Dawson, tho lunch and afternoon tea to Mrs Beatson, and that Gordon’s Band bo engaged, iheso recommendations were approved. A letter from the Unemployment Committee being received, it was decided to reply that on account of tho fire at Wingatui a number of men will be employed, and tnc work of reconstruction will be undertaken as soon as possible. This should assist the committee in its difficulty. In connection with the Spring Meeting to be held on October 14. and IG, it was decided that the first race start at 12 and the last at 5.15 p.m. Messrs Hanlon, Christie, Draper, Goughian, and Dr Hall were appointed the Judicial Committee. The former, carrying a stone more weight and occupying the outside berth, thus conceding a considerable advantage to his opponent, was beaten by two' lengths over seven furlongs on the grass track in the excellent time of Imin 281 sec.

The council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association has received advice from the Amateur Swimming Union of Australia that Claire Could well and Ettie Robertson, champion Australian lady swimmers, have acccpto 1 an invitation to_ visit New Zealand next season. A meeting of the council of the Now Zealand Athletic Association last night decided to write to all the centres and ask them if they would agree to a tour of the American athletes Roland Lock and Harold Osborne, the holders of world’s records. Lock is one of the most brilliant sprinters in the world. Osborne is an all-rounder and holds the world’s record for the high jump, and was the winner of the Decathlon at the last Olympic Games. It was stated that if, the council did not act at once the difficulties in the way of getting the team across would bo considerable. Owing to the fact that the Olympic Gaines would he held in 1928. it might be three season heioro they could arrange another visit from overseas. The tour wouffi start at Hamilton on January 15 next.
