Frederick Jones was sentenced to three years' penal servitude for the theft of coins from the Salting collection in the Victoria and Albert Museum. [The robbery was reported last month of thirty-four gold pieces belonging to the Salting collection of ancient coins in the Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington. Frederick Jones, who was arrested in connection with the affair,.confessed that he stole the coins under great provocation, and was ignorant of their value. He walked the streets destitute for three days and entered the museum to rest. He forced the case with a screwdriver. He was there for twenty minutes, an attendant passing four times without suspecting him. Jones then walked out undetected.]
