CAGE BIRD CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING , There was a good attendance at the Dunedin Cage Bird Specialist Club’s annual meeting, held last evening in tho Y.M.C.A. The president (Mr E. Chronican) occupied tho chair. The Chairman moved the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, and, in doing so, said that good work had been done during tho year. He urged the members not only to be enthusiastic, but to show their enthusiasm by doing something for tho benefit of the club

In seconding the motion, Mr E. G. W. Watts said their object was to breed good birds. Mr W. Esquilant congratulated the members on the excellent show that was held in the Canadian Court, and said that a membership of seventy-three was something to be proud of. The motion was carried. Office-bearers were elected as follow:—Patrons—Messrs W. Omand, W. Goodeve, W. Esquilant, W. Ross, K. Ramsay, King, Stenhouse, J. Mitchell, A. Binnie, G. Bills, H. L. Sprosen, Bardswell; president, Sir E. Chronican ; vice-presidents —Messrs A. Auld, J. Jenkin, E. W. Rix, A. Cursey; secretary, Mr R. J. Brown; treasurer, Mr W. M'Night; auditor, Mr hi. Fountain ; committee—Messrs P. Neils-,on; E. W. Rix, M. Fountain, J. M'Farlan, C. Brown, Boswell; delegate to the South Island Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Association, Mr R. J. Brown. Seven new members were elected by ballot.

It was decided that the secretary receive a donation of £3 3s for his services during the year. On behalf of the members, Mr Watt presented the chairman with a seagrass chair on the occasion of his recent marriage.

Mr Onrsey was presented with a handsome rose bowl, which was won for the third time in succession for the best Norwich canary (breeders’ class) in the show. -} Certificates were presented to the following;—Mr A. Waugh (club championship for the best Norwich canary) and Mr B. Rix (for the best Yorkshire canary). Pipes were presented to Mr R. M‘Neill for tbe best pair of Yorkshire canaries, and to Mr M. Fmutain for the best pair of Norwich canaries.
