HURGARIAH MUNITION WORKS MANY PEOPLE KILLED COUNTRYSIDE SHAKEN. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright BUDAPEST, August 12. The city and countryside were shaken by a groat explosion at the Weiss Munition Works. Enormous stores of explosives wore discharged with thunderous reports. Houses were unroofed two miles away. The extent of the damage is not known, as the telegraph and telephone lines aro clown in all directions; but it must bo enormous.

A great fire is raging and prevents access to the scene. It is known that twenty-four persons were killed and 200 injured. The works belonged to the Manfred Weiss Company and consisted of more than 100 buildings situated for safety on Ossepe Island, near Budapest. Hero most of the Austro-Biilgarian munitions were made in war time, when the works employed 60,000. The plant is the largest in the dual monarchy.—A. and NAA Cable.
