HARBOR BOARD LOANS

SELECT COMITTEE'S AMEHDHEKTS [From Qua Parliamentary Reporter] WELLINGTON, August 13. The Otago Harbor Board Empowering Bill has boon reported with amend-ments-by the Local Bills Committee. The board’s power to borrow is specified'in tho new schedule as follows: Acquisition of dredging plant, £125,000; reinstatement of North Spit mole, £110,000; railway connection with Victoria wharf, £7,000; harbor warehouse, £25,000; renewal of Birch street wharf, £35,000; finishing Leith canal, £6,000; extension of Victoria wharf, £20,000; new shed, Rattray ■ street wharf, and cargo handling appliances, £22 000. Total, £350,000. The board is authorised to establish a sinking fund of not less than i per cent, in respect to tho renewal of loans totalling £933,000 fading duo in 1928 and 1934. It may apply surplus moneys from tho works named in the schedule for. tho completion of other specified works; or, if there is a surplus cm tho completion of tho scheduled work's, it may ho paid into tho sinking fund.
