TD-DAY'S PRICE GUIDE General prices in the city shops are given in the shopping guide. Eggs are down in price, stamped egg circle selling at 2s, and unstamped at 1s lOd. The only other alteration in genera! produce is that pollard has increased by £1 per ton. Best butter is Is 9d, cooking butter 1s 3d, and bulk Is 7d. Prices in the fruit shops are:— Tahiti oranges, 4 and 6 for Is; navel oranges, 3 and 4 for Is and 3 for Is 3d; bananas, 10 for Is; lemons, 5 for 1s; mandarins, 6 for 1s; Raratongan tomatoes, 1s per lb; local hothouse tomatoes, 2s 6d per !b; Winter Nelis and Cole pears, 6d per lb; passion fruit, 6 for Is. Apples—-Fancy Delicious, 8d per lb; Delicious, fid; Jonathans, 31b for Is 3d; Cleopatras, 31b for Is; Fancy Stunners, 31b for Is 3d; cooking apples, 3d; smaller grades of Jonathans and Scarlets, 3d.

Prices are unaltered for vegetables. They are Cauliflowers, 10d to Is fid; cabbage, 3d to fid; hothouse cucumbers, 1s fid; lettuce, 3d and 4d; artichokes, 3d per lb; marrow, 3d per lb; pumpkin, 51b for Is; swedes, 161 b for 1s; onions, 3d per lb; potatoes, 101 b for Is,

Beef prices are down, and the shops are selling as under:— Beef roasts, 5d to 8d; steak, fid to 10d; corned, fid to fid; mince, 4d; pork, Is; chops, 7d to 9d; mutton forequarters, 4d to fid; legs, 7d to 9d.
