EPESEHTATiYE RUGBY OTAGO v. SOUTHLAND. The first representative match of tW season will bo played at Carisbrook, whore a fast, open game of Rugby should 1)0 witnessed. Great interest 13 being taken in tho match between Otago and Southland, especially by tha lathi’s supporters. A largo contingent is coming from the south to witness the game, .and eo as enable them to catch the south express back tho match will commence at 2.30 Southland has a line all-round team. The forwards are a fast, heavy pack. As a curtain raiser tbe Otago referees will meet the South* land coforces. The representatives of the Otago and Southland primary schools will meet in the morning at Tahuna Parle, These two games should provide good exhibitions of Rugby. Tho Southland team will arrive this evening and will stay at tha Provincial Hotel. The Railway Department has decided to delay the south express until 4.55, and it will ■stop at Caversham to pick up passengers for stations south of Clinton. The ‘1.45 train has been delayed until 5 o’clock, and a special train will leave at G.lO for Baidu tha and the Gatlins River branch lino. Afternoon tea and beef tea will bo obtainable at booth beneath tho grand stand at half-time. The box plan is now open at Tho Bristol and will close at 11.15 to-morrow. Ground tickets are obtainable at the Otago Sports Depot and S. Jacobs’s. The public arc requested to come prepared with the exact money, and thus save time at the turnstiles. RUGSY LEAGUE The Rugby League competition will bo continued, when two star attractions will be staged at the Caledonian Ground. The opening match between Pacific and Kaikorai commences at 1.30, and the match between Christian Breathers and City at 3. Both of these mulches are sure to provide interesting and open Rugby League lootball. The Athletic Club will play Kaitangata at Kaitangaia. The league's admission charges to the Calc, remain as previously, ladies awl .school children being admitted free to the grounds. SGGCEJ

The mooting of Technical College Old Boys and Kaitangata at Culling Park, starting at 1.30 should provide spectators with a first-class display of Soccer, as both clubs held a leading position in the first round, being equal on points. At the previous meeting early in the season Technical College secured a win, but Kaitangaia improved as the round progressed, eventually defeating Scacliff in the final match of the round. Both clubs will bo strongly represented on Saturday, and tire match should bo close and exciting. The Nor-thorn-Y.M.C.A. fixture, timed to start at 3 o’clock, should also prove an interesting match. Northern has again secured the services of Ruddiman, which should strengthen their forward line and improve the team-work, which was such an attractive feature of Northern’s play last season. The youthful Y.M.C.A. team has steadily improved _ since entering the first grade competition, and may bo relied upon to extend their more experienced opponents. Southern will meet Maori Hill at the Oval at 3 o’clock in the opening match for the B division trophy, the remaining matches being played out of town.
