(Received August 12, at 8.50' a.m.) In the House of Representatives Uio report of the Royal Commission which inquired into matters connected u ith the British Phosphates Commission was tabled. It records the continued strained relations which existed between Mr Pope, tbo Australian Commissioner, and Mr Dickinson and Mr Ellis, tbo British and New Zealand Commissioners respectively. Tho.report states that no justification exists for the allegations cast by Mr Pope against the other Commissioners. Ho is extraordinarily suspicious of tho good faith of those from wlrora ho differs. Mr Bruce stated that in view of the report, and in order to restore harmony and to avert the transfer of the Phosphate Commission’s head office to New Zealand, Mr Pope would bo removed and paid throe months’ salary in lieu of notice.
