HANOVER STREET SEWER.

TO THE KDITOE. Sir, —At last night’s meeting of the City Council Cr Hayward raised the question of this work, and is reported to have got the rather non-committal reply from the chairman of the Works Committee that the engineer vas “ focussing ” his attention on lower Hanover street. Surely, sir, it is time some more “ginger” was put into the “ focussing,” as for over twelve months now lower Hanover street has been practically closed to traffic, and that hole at the intersection of Hanover and Harrow streets been a menace during the whole of that time. Wo were extremely fortunate there was no serious acci lent ■there during the Exhibition period, and an accident will occur there yet if nothing is done. It must be well over three months since the Cumberland to King street section was started, and still there is no sign of King to George and Eillenl streets being put under way. One would think that with so much unemployment the council would get this work pushed on, and thus give the Hanover street residents some relief from all the mud they have had to put up with for the last twelve months.— I am, etc., Reasonable. August 12.
