OTAGO V. SOUTHLAND

The first representative match of the season will be played at Carisbrook on Saturday, when Otago will meet Southland. This always provides a closelycontested game, and the Southlanders are looking forward to the match with groat interest A large number of Southlanders intend journeying to Dunedin to witness the game. To enable these visitors to return by the south express, the game will commence at 2.30 p.m. The Southland team June a line forward division. They are fast, and have plenty of weight, while they will also have a very good back team. The Otago team arc considered the best available, so a keen struggle should bo witnessed. As a c.urtniii-rivscr the usual match between the Otago and Southland referees will bo played, and this should provide some amusing incidents by oldtimers who have, represented the two provinces in days gone by. The visitors will arrive on Friday evening, and will stop at the Provincial Hotel. The members of the Otago team are requested to meet in Mr E._S. Wilson’s board room on Friday evening. The Railway Department has delayed the south express until 4.55 p.m. on Saturday, and it will stop at Caversham to pick up passengers for south of Clinton for stations at which the express is timed to stop. The 4.4-5 p.m. train will be delayed until 5 p.m., and a special train will leave at 6.10 p.oi. for Balclutha and the Gatlins brv.ch. Refreshments can be obtained at booth beneath the grand stand at half-time. Official guides, containing full particulars, will he on sale at the ground. Ground tickets are obtainable at the Otago Sports Depot and S. Jacobs’s. The box plan is now open at The Bristol. The plan will close at 11.30 on Saturday morning.
