PSYCHIC DRAWINGS

Much which is produced under iho title of psychic drawings or paintings is so utterly unworthy of exhibition that people of artistic sensibilities, shocked by violations of the ordinary canons of art—are disposed to sweep out the whole thing with an impatience that one cannot wholly condemn (according to ‘Light’). Nevertheless, there arc some notable exceptions. Take, for instance, the case of -Victorien Sardon. the great French dramatist, who was also nu earnest Spiritualist, lie had no ability to draw, yet he tells how on one occasion he was moved to pick up a graver and go to work on a copperplate on which was already engraved with great skill a portion of the house in which Molierc lived. Under some strange influence he allowed his hand to follow its own direction, with the result that after a few hours of unconscious toil lie produced on the plate a design made up of crochets and double crochets so small as to bo scarcely visible to the unaided eye. It was a piece of work that would have, taken a professional engraver at least a month so he declared, lie kept the engraving by Ir'li and frequently showed it to ids friends as an example of what was hi his day known as the ‘'supernatural.”
