NO NEED TO DEPORT
A SERBIAN'S APPEAL [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, July 9. A plea against deportation was mads by a Serbian, Sava Vujovich, who appeared in the Police Court on a charge of remaining in New Zealand in contravention or the immigration restriction regulations. Counsel said the accused had landed from the Norwegian steamer Tulega eleven months ago, unci bid found employment. On account of differences in nationality ho had not boon well treated by the crew of the vessel, and had complained to the police in Wellington. He had documents which proved service with the British Army at Salonika. On behaJl of the shipping agents, Mr Jlagnall said the company was liable ior a bond of HIUO if accused were not deported. However, the sum could 1)0 remitted if the authorities approved of accused remaining in New' Zealand. The Magistrate (Mr Poynton) : If he is a docent man there is no reason why he should ho deported, considering the number of rascals who remain here who should ho deported. The case was adjourned for a week.
