MORNINGTON TRAM EXTENSION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Do our City Fathers realise what a fine possession Dunedin has in her sunny, healthy; suburb of Mornington, and now wise it would be to encourage settlement in such a district? There is plenty of room for expansion, which would provide ideal spots for hundreds of homes. The great drawback is means of transit; but if tho idea of continuing tho tramline from its prosent terminus to Kenmuro road could only be carried out the comfort and convenience of present and future, would be greatly increased. We fully; appreciate the supplementary bus service and the courteous competence of the driver, but we feel that no man can for long stand the nervous strain of driving on either of the routes, and we live in daily dread of some accident occurring at one of the sharp corners. Mornington residents have been patience itself, but the feeling is very general that their claims should be gently, but-very firmly, urged, and that the time is ripe for claiming the extension promised when tho tramway poll was taken.—l am, etc., Mornington No, 3, June 14.
