The parliamentary aspirant had arrived to “ nurse ” the constituency, which was one'of the rough and ready order—with the accent on the “rough.” Nervously the young man sought his agent. “They tell me,” said' he, “that bricks were thrown at the candidates during the last election.” “Oh! don’t let that worry von,” repled the agent. The housing .shortage is so acute now that only half bricks will be permitted.”
