A Stockholm message states that the American balloon Goodyear 111., which won the Gordon Bennett Cup race this week, travelling 527 miles before it landed at Soeldcborg, bad a_ most thrilling flight of 41 hours 11 minutes, which tli© pilot, Van Orman, claims is a record. The balloon was drifting over the North Sea at a height of 3,000 ft, when it commenced to sink. Ballast _was throivn out, and the balloon drifted over the Baltic Sea, where it w T as caught in a rainstorm. In order to escape this more ballast was jettisoned, causing the balloon to ascend to 19,000 ft. This compelled the use of oxygen, after which the aeronauts found themselves on the Swedish coast, and, the ballast being exhausted, they were compelled to land.
