DISTINCTIVE SYSTEM ’of Assurance has been adopted by which the profits are reserved for those members- who survive the period in which their premiums, accumulated at 4 per cent, compound interest, amount to the sum assured. While the premiums are so moderate that they represent an annual .saving of 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, on the rates charged by other companies for with-profit contracts, the latest valuation produced a surplus sufficient for an immediate bonus of £1 10s per cent, per annum to whole-life policyholders and £1 5s per cent, per annum to holders of endowment assurance policies. These bonuses will improve, by the operation of interest alone, at, a rapid rate to the extent that in 15 years the Reversionary Bonuses now declared will amount to £2 5s and £1 16s [ter cent, per annum respectively to life and endowment assurance policyholders.
