FRAUD ALLEGED
CHARGE AGAINST MANAGER (Pub United Peeks Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Juno 10. “I will bring evidence To prove that accused has been defrauding the public for some years.” said Mr Brown, who appeared on behalf of the Crown Prosecutor, in the Magistrate’s Court, when Ernest Alfred Akins, manager for the Christchurch firm of Andrew Lees, was charged that he did, with intent to defraud, attempt to obtain from Carl Gustave Johansen the sum of £2 ]9s by falsely representing that two drums of Hartman’s No. 2 red band* naint were Hartman’s No. 1 paint. Accused pleaded not guilty. The case is proceeding.
