At a. height of fifty miles above the earth the temperature is tropical, according to the observations made by Mr W. F. Denning, of Bristol, who has worked as an amateur astronomer for sixty years. After an unaccompanied journey of 5,000 miles from Brandon, Manitoba, Margaret Jowott, aged two years, whoso mother died, while on a visit to Canada, arrived at Liverpool, and was met by her father, an Edinburgh man.
