ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY'S CONCERT
The first, concert of the season will be given in His Majesty s Theatre this evening. With one exception all the items are by well-known composers. The exception is ‘ A Night on Mount Ghauve ’ (M. Moussorgsky), and depicts with puaint melody the doings of the evil spirits which _ legend says inhabit the mountains. Schubert’s ‘Fifth Symphony,’ a selection from * The Gondoliers ’ (Sullivan), the ‘Three Dances from Henry (Edward German), the overture ‘ Son and Stranger’ (Mendelssohn), and the march from ‘ Tamihauser ’ (Wagner) are included in the programme. Miss Lorna Smith and Mr John T. Leech are the soloists. Miss Smith will sing ‘ Three Fishers ’ (Hullah) and ‘ Ombra mai fu ' (Handel). Mr Leech’a items are ‘ Angels Guard Thee ’ (Godard) and ‘The Message’ (Blumenthal). A limited number of 2s tickets will be available at the theatre doors.
