INFANT FOUND DEAD MOTHER RESCUED FROM SURF [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, May 30. Tho four-weeks-old son of a resident of Sumner named Robinson was found dead by his fourteen-year-old brother this morning, and as the mother was not to bo found in the house the father was informed, and he went to the beach in search of his wife. The tide was low, and he saw her in the water, and when he brought her out she was conscious. When she had been removed to her home the police were informed, and detectives from the city brought the body of the baby and also the woman to Christchurch. Details are meagre. It is stated that the woman had been quiet and morose lately, and her manner was strange on Saturday night, Mr Robinson, her husband, is manager of the hardware department of tho D.I.C.

May 31. Since the birth of her last child Mrs Robinson has been unwell. She was restless all Saturday night, and was to have had breakfast in bod yesterday. When her fourteen-year-old son brought the tray to her she asked for a table knife. Ho brought it, and five minutes later the tragedy was discovered by the elder daughter, Phyllis. The mother was missing, and tho baby lay dead in its cot.

The woman was later discovered by her husband standing in the surf. To him she said: “I’ve killed my baby; I’m tired of life.”

She now lies in hospital, semi-con-scious.
