The gauntlet. has been flung down I by n well-known Mull vicar, who has issued a message to his parishioners, in which he says he has had several complaints that the most solemn moments of worship are often spoiled hy some women who powder “ in the most ostentations wav.”
■‘l really can't object to girls powdering their noses providing they do it in a decent, mannci,” said the vicar. “ It looks all right sometimes, but some of them reek of powder and cosmetics, and their faces look as if they had been whitewashed.
