OTTAWA, March 12,

Mr J. Boivin, Minister of Customs and Excise, made tho following announcement to-day:—“Shipments of butter from Australia within the last few days have been accepted upon the payment of a duty of lour cents per pound. This duty one cent per pound undex* the Australian treaty and a further duty of three cents under tho dumping clause.” The Minister stated that the extra duty under tho clumping clause was being levied pending an investigation to determine whether the home consumption price of butter in Australia was in excess of 5 per cent, over the price of Australian butter sold in Canada.—Reuter.
