WINIFRED CONSPICUOUS FROLIC ANOTHER WINKER RACES FOR MODELS. At Ravenshourne on Saturday two cup yacht races wore held. One was for the Oliphant Cup, and tho other was for tho Challenge Cup, which trophy can bo competed for by only Ravenshourne boats Winifred led across the starting line, followed by Kia Ora, and then lona, in the Oliphant Cup event. Ihe three fourteen-footers sailed in fairly close company. AViniireel kept the lead around the three-legs, and until past the Cove, when Kia Ora captured the forefront position. Then lona wont into first place; but Winifred won hack tho lead. The Ravenshourne boat headed Kia Ora and lona around tho buoy, and remained to the fore until nearing tho three-legs again, Kia Ora turned tho mark the second time over ISseo sooner than Winifred, though Winifred drew level with French’s boat off Black Jack s Point, and at tho finish had a lead- of approximately two minutes.

In a full-sail south-east breeze Eileen was first away in the race for tho cup presented by Mr T. Ross, bh® was lollowed closely by Winifred, May, Seagull, Frolic, and Sea Imp m that order. The Eileen enhanced her lead on the beat to the three-legs, and she and tho craft lying second and third felt tho other contestants well astern as they made for Challis’s. On the beat hack to iho three-logs Eileen went into calm water, and the remaining boats caught on her considerably. Eileen finished first, but was unplaced.

At Anderson’s Bay, in a light and fluky wind, throe model yacht races were held under the auspices of tho Otago Model Yacht Club. White Swan, Carbine, Nancy, and Vesper wore m one 2ft class coropciitTHn, which was won by Master R. Carter’s White Swan, "in another race for 2ft models Mr B, Hes’s Nancy was successful, while Master Billy Watson’s Splash won the third event.
