Reports from Tientsin .state that as a resuit of representations on the subieet of mines sunk in the river month at Take made by the consular body to Kuo Min-chin, the authorities nave now arranged that ships displaying special signals shall be. allowed to enter and leave the river during daylight. 'l’he diplomatic body protested to the Foreign Office against Peking being cut off from the sea in violation of the protocol of 1901. The self-constituted hospital section of the Miscellaneous Workers’ Union, staling ihat it was acting under orders from the Agricultural and Laborers’ Commission, entered the Canton Hospital and forced the working staff, excepting the Chinese nurses, to strike, threatening to kill any remaining behind. The workers appealed for police protection, which was refused. There are seven tv patients likely to starve in the hospital. The water and food supplies were cut off.
