STATUS OF POST RAISED [Per United Press Association.] AVELLINGTON, March 1. It. is announced that in appointing Mr L. B. Beale as; His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner in New Zealand in succession to Mr Noel Etraslie the Imperial .Government has raised the status of the post to first-grade rank, thus indicating the. importance which it attaches to Britain’s trade relations with the dominion. Mr Beale, in addition to wide commercial experience, enjoys the reputation of being one of the most efficient and popular officers in the Trade Commissioner service. Mr R. AA r . Dalton, Senior Trade Commissioner in Australia, who lias been deputed to take charge of the New Zealand post pending Air Beale’s arrival in April, will arrive it Auckland to-morrow, coming to ..Wellington on March 8.
