THE ALMEIDA CASE
ROBERTSON OR rMAHON? A CURIOUS DEVELOPMENT Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright Australian and N.Z. Press Association. MELBOURNE, March 1. (Received March 1, at 9.40 a.m.) According to Press reports the true name of the man who was sentenced as Douglas Robertson in the Almeida case is James Francis M'Mahon. He hails from Now Zealand. It is alleged that he went to tho war with Robertson,, whose papers disappeared. Subsequently lie passed himself off as Robertson.
It is further stated that M'Mahon is a prison escapee, and that the possession of a crooked nose led to his arrest in connection with tho Almeida murder after evading tho police for over a year.
