A fire in tho furniture and bedding factory of Messrs Morris and Ludwig, Prahran, caused damage to the building and stock estimated at £30,000. MOTOR WORKS BURNED SYDNEY, February 15. (Received February 16, at 1.30 a.m.) Fire at Garrett’s motor car works, Camperdown, caused £15,000 damage. POOR POTATO CROP SYDNEY, February 16. (Received February 16, at 11.15 a.m.) Because of tho continued dry conditions through much of the potato-pro-ducing districts iu tho State tho prospects of a high average yield, which seemed possible in the early part of tho year, have been completely altered. Reports from Tasmania and Victoria also indicate greatly reduced yields. The Department of Agriculture is of opinion that it is quite _ possible that potatoes may have to be imported from New Zealand. SYDNEY HEAT WAVE SYDNEY, February 16. (Received February 16. at 11.10 a.m.) A heat wave is again being experienced in Now South Wales, the thermometer in Sydney reaching 102.2, and a higher reading is recorded in tho west." Many minor bush fires are reported.
